Keyston Young Farmers

Keyston YFC

Keyston YFC are a rural youth organisation for people aged between 10 – 26 years old, who are one of twelve clubs in Pembrokeshire. We meet every Tuesday evening 8pm at Camrose Community Centre and always welcome new members.

We celebrated our 70th Anniversary in 2013, with the first ever meeting being held on 25th October 1943 at Keyston Chapel Vestry. Now, nearly 76 years on, Keyston YFC has represented Pembrokeshire many times at The Royal Welsh and Royal Show in Folk Dancing, Stock Judging, Cookery, Flower Arranging, Fence Erecting, Woodwork competitions and many more. Members have also represented Pembrokeshire in The Drama and Talent Competitions and Knockout Quiz Events, along with Public Speaking at Wales and National level.

As a club we have raised thousands of pounds for Charity in many different ways, having completed a Tractor Drive to the Royal Welsh, Bike Ride to the Wales YFC Conference in Ruthin, a Sponsored 12 hour Table Tennis Marathon and a local Tractor Run to name but a few. Many local and national charities have benefited from these events.

Community work is also very important to us in Keyston and we regularly help with the maintenance of our meeting room at The Camrose Community Centre.

In a time when young people get such bad press it’s reassuring to know that Keyston YFC is going from strength to strength and still hold dear the old values from those early years, Good Farmers, Good Countrymen and Good Citizens. Long may it continue.
